a rebel or a revolutionary.” ~ G.E. Nordell
Yes I know, it’s a large populaton that needs electricity…
and I know we’ve done it too…
and I know I’m not a scientist or an engineer, BUT…
could someone, anyone, please tell me why building a nuclear power plant in an earthquake-prone country is a good idea?

Sputnik is awake, after four months of hibernation. He’s doesn’t appear too happy about it…even for a tortoise.
While I was gone, someone shot and killed six people, including a federal judge and a child, and severely wounded three others, including a democratic congresswoman. This occured in my home state, an hour south of my home.
In the aftermath of the shootings it appears that the far right, who worked dilligently to stir up this sort of shit, is performing damage control.
Sounds like someone has a guilty conscience…
Costa Rica 2011…
I just got home from visiting Costa Rica with my buddy Dave. Dave was considering an expatriate existence, but I think he’s having second thoughts. We’ll see if, in three more weeks, he comes home and packs his stuff. It is a beautiful country with friendly people, a high literacy rate, an infrastructure somewhat above that of most Latin American countries, diverse and interesting (and often deadly) wildlife and surprisingly bland cuisine. I enjoyed my time there, not sure if I would hurry back as there are so many other places I haven’t seen yet.
